Hi all, Sorry for the maybe intimate question, but thought this might be a good place to ask! I have to start my pessaries tonight, and though I has them for my last cycle, I don’t have fond memories of them! I ended up taking them rectally as vaginally just got messy, but does anyone have any tips for making it a more comfortable process?! Thanks and again sorry it may be so personal!

      Hi Megan!

Perfectly normal question – and you are in a safe space. Unfortunately – they do make a mess when using them vaginally and I have had patients who have ended up being very uncomfortable when using them vaginally. If you are using them twice, i would suggest inserting very early in the morning and getting back into bed for 30 mins to an hour and then inserting the evening one just before bed. If you are able to rest for at least 30 mins after inserting – it might be less messy and you are absorbing as much as you can. You can use them rectally if its easier but juts make sure you don’t have any bowel movements up to 30 mins after inserting.

      I hope that helps?

      Fran x
