FranKeymasterWe have our first question:
How can workplaces reduce stigma around menopause?-
April 20, 2026 at 12:07 pm #7760
FranKeymasterthis is a good question as we do still see that there can be stigma associated with menopause. Ways to manage this can be to provide awareness training, have cleaqr menopause policies, encourage open conversations, implement staff networks, and having visible leadership support can all help to normalise the topic and reduce stigma.

FranKeymasterOur next question:
What should an employee do if they feel unsupported?-
April 20, 2026 at 12:23 pm #7762
FranKeymasterAnother great question and sadly one that we do see come up a lot.
People may not always understand how to manage menopause wellbeing but things that may help could be to speak to a manager about how you are feeling or if you aren’t able to speak to your manager, you could contact someone in HR, occupational health, union representative, or the staff wellbeing service. Keeping a record of symptoms and workplace impact can also help any discussions.

FranKeymasterWhat should a good menopause policy include?
-
April 20, 2026 at 12:34 pm #7764
FranKeymasterWhen thinking about menopause policies you need to consider things like awareness, maintaining confidentiality, line-manager training and guidance, examples of reasonable adjustments, routes to support, links to absence procedures, equality considerations, and review processes. Its also helpful to provide symptom trackers and tools that employees can utilise.

FranKeymasterHow can menopause affect attendance at work?

April 20, 2026 at 12:56 pm #7769
FranKeymasterSymptoms such as poor sleep, migraines, anxiety, or heavy bleeding can lead to absence but also being unable to concentrate a work. Brain fog can also make it difficult for people to concentrate – flexible working arrangements and supportive absence management is important and can really make a difference to employees.
