This was our first self funded ICSI cycle. TTC for 5 years. Male factor, AMH of 19, I’m 32 and no health concerns.
Short protocol with Meriofert and Fyremadel, everything went very smoothly with stims, 14 follicles 17-20mm. Triggered with Gonasi and on collection we got 12 eggs, all 12 mature and injected from a reportedly ‘good looking sample’.We got the call that none of our 12 eggs had fertilised and that they were very shocked that they were telling us this news.
We have no answers yet and don’t know if we will get any. We due to start a further cycle but going out of our minds should it happen again. Obviously we know nothing is a given in the journey of IVF but still feel so defeated. We have been recommended AOA add in but there’s little evidence that supports it.
Anyone experienced this who can offer any hope? If you have, I am so sorry that this has happened to you.

Hi sorry to hear your cycle didn’t bring you any success. I’ve been ttc for 3 years and understand how much this must have deflated you both. I’ve never had zero fertilisation myself at this stage however I know a lady who had this one get first cycle then went on to have another cycle and got pregnant with twins from a double transfer and had another embryo frozen which she later got pregnant with and now has another baby. Don’t give up, it can happen xx

We’re starting our first cycle very soon and have been told ICSI is the only option for us due to my partners issues. Of course I’ve covered and looked at all the statistics etc but non fertilisation at this stage with ICSI hadn’t even crossed my mind.
I’m so sorry that this has happened but looking at other stories and comments don’t give up hope x -

Hi Katie, so sorry that this has happened, incredibly disappointing. I’ve had a sort-of-similar situation for my first cycle, 19 eggs of which 2 fertilised but neither made it any further.
My doctor has suggested testing my prolactin hormone level and also starting to take inofolate/inofolic acid which I believe is primarily for PCOS (which I don’t have) but there is evidence that it can improve fertilisation rates. Also for the next cycle increasing the length of time on the stimulation meds but lowering the dose towards the end of the time period, and doing ICSI (I am using donor sperm, I didn’t have ISCI with the last cycle).
Have you had a followup consultation yet which may shed some light? x -

KeymasterHas anyone experienced total fertilisation failure then gone on to have transfers in subsequent cycles? 12 eggs, non fertilised with icsi. So deflated!
