Hi all, I’m new here. Myself and my fiancé have been TTC for over 10 years. During that time I was diagnosed with PCOS and anovulation as well as other medical conditions including type 2 diabetes. We’re not sure how to go about getting help with TTC on the NHS as neither of us work atm and I already have a daughter who is 21 years old. We’re also not sure what vitamins and minerals and other supplements will help us.I have reached out to my doctors for help for both me and my fiancé, but he refuses to the sample he’s asked to do as he thinks that I’m the only one of us who has fertility issues even though I have told him that men can have them too.My fiancé quit smoking over 5 years ago, but he now uses an e-cig and he’s been told by a doctor that it’s healthier than an actual cigarette. How can I get us help when he won’t do the tests and samples he’s asked for?

Hi TJ, thanks for reaching out! Will do my best to try and answer your questions.
Unfortunately you may not be entitled to treatment on the NHS as you already have a child but you can definitely access tests through your GP.

If you have a look in some of the posts, you might find some helpful info around supplements and vitamins that I have highlighted.

It can sometimes be a bit tricky for men to deal with fertility. They sometimes feel as if its just a female issue and that having fertility problems can make them appear as less of a man. It might be good to see if he can talk to a counsellor or someone who can support him. There is a fantastic podcast that has been set up by two men – where they discuss all about male fertility but from a males perspective that he might find helpful? Its called the male fertility podcast.

Unfortunately it does sometimes take guys a bit longer to digest things but maybe asking if he wants to talk about it or providing him with resources such as the podcast might help.
      Hope that helps,

      Fran x
