Some advice if you are about to go on holiday to a sunny destination and are trying to conceive or planning fertility treatment. While moderate sun exposure helps your body produce Vitamin D, which supports healthy hormone function and egg/sperm quality, too much heat can work against your efforts to conceive.Vitamin D and Fertility:
Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to irregular ovulation in women, miscarriage and reduced sperm motility in men Just 10–20 minutes of daily sun exposure (on arms and legs) can help maintain healthy levels but always balance this with sun safety.Heat and Hormonal Health:
High temperatures can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and hormonal stress which may interfere with reproductive health. If you’re undergoing fertility treatment, some medications can also make you more photosensitive, increasing your risk of sunburn.Sun Safety Tips While TTC:

Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) — mineral sunscreens are a good choice.

Stay well hydrated — aim for 6–8 glasses of water daily, more in the heat.

Avoid direct sun between 11am and 3pm.

Wear breathable clothing and a wide-brimmed hat.

Listen to your body — rest in the shade if you feel overheated or lightheaded.

Protecting yourself from too much sun helps your body stay in balance and that’s important when preparing for pregnancy. Enjoy the summer sunshine, but do it safely!
