Hi all, Just starting our 2nd IVF attempt with a FET, with our only frozen embryo. We’ve been trying for 2 years, tests show I have a low AMH of around 4, and husband had varicocele. We had ICSI in spring this year which sadly didn’t implant, so really nervous about this round and so praying it will work. I’m also extra worried because the FET should roughly be around the 6th Aug but have a friends hen do on the 9th (bridesmaid, so fully involved in planning etc). Ideally I’d like to just hunker down and be really chill for a few days after the FET but worried that the hen do won’t be the place to manage this! How ‘chilled’ and low key should I be after the FET or can I just carry on like normal? Obviously won’t be drinking, just more worried about getting super engrossed in activities like kayaking and dance class that we’ve planned. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Megan,
First of all, good luck and sending you positivity for second round!
In regards to dates, my first FET was on the planned date they gave me, but my second cycle FET, ended up being a week after scheduled due to my lining not being thick enough- so I had planned a lot around this date, and ended up moving anyway. So can always be a possibility it may be after the hen do.
Sadly I am now awaiting to go for our third round with our last embryo. But the general advice given by my clinic post FET was relax that day, maybe do a gentle walk. And then no strenuous activity, only things like yoga or walking. They said no baths, saunas or hot tubs. Also, if you’re going kayaking – I’d just be careful about going into the water if you are on any progesterone pessaries! And mainly being as stress free and relaxed as possible.
So if your dates do go as planned, I’m sure that you’ll have a great time on the hen do, but maybe just take it easy on the activities!
Hope all goes well with everything for you!

Thank you so much for your reply – and absolutely a great shout about kayaking & pessaries! Oh the joys this journey brings us. Also good to know about timeline maybe changing, which may work out better perhaps! Really appreciate your advice and insight.
Good luck for your transfer, hoping this is the one for you xx

FranKeymasterHi Megan,
Keeping everything crossed for you!
How busy do you think the hen party will be? You might find that you are naturally very tired after the FET – as the emotional and physical build up can be exhausting! You also need to avoid swimming in chlorinated water for at least 5 days post transfer so pools and hot tubs are out for the first few days. Do any of the other people going know that you are having treatment? If at least one knows then it will be easier for you to make your excuses from the activities.
Drink plenty and rest when you can – we usually say that a a day or two after the transfer you can resume normal activities but nothing strenuous.
Hope that helps,
Fran

Thanks Frank for your reply!
Yes the bride and other bridesmaids know about the treatment which is important because I don’t want them thinking I’m being grumpy by sitting stuff out 😅
Will definitely not be doing the hot tub and have made decision to not kayak as don’t want to risk anything.
We’ve just got lots of silly games planned really, but I think anything excessive and I’ll rest!
Thanks for your advice, much appreciated x
